The Inter9 should be built on open standards that are accessible and usable by anyone. They should have an open license, and anybody should be able to participate in their development.

It must be possible to freely adopt, implement, and extend the standard.

The standards documents must be available for anyone to read and implement at an affordable price.
It should be possible to have multiple implementations of the standard to avoid vendor lock-in.

There shoould be no royalty or fees to implement.
No discrimination towards implementers.
